High tensile strength combined with low thermal capacity is the outsta-nding feature of the Rod Reinforced belt construction. The relatively elongated spiral wires are woven together and reinforced by transev-erse rods inserted through the hinge of the spirals. This breaks down the usual quadrilateral opening and forms instead two stable triangles, creating an efficient construction for belt operation at high temperatures.

An available feature of the Iidong Rod Reinforced belt is the staplesh-aped reinforcing rod. which not only gives greater strength than a single straight rod, but anchors the rod within the belt structure. The bights formed by bending the rods upon themselves provide reinforcement to the belt selvage.
