Conventional belting consists of a series of either right or left hand wound spirals, each turned into the preceding spiral to form a conin-uous belt. This type of belting can be all onedirection weave or made of alternating right hand and left hand section, known as Sectional belting. The length of the alternating section is generally determined by the size of the pulleys over which the belt operates. Because the creep to the left, belt travel is controlled to the extent of preventing off the pulleys.
Sectional belting is suggested for frictionally driven conveyors when a Coventional weave is necessary. However, the superior tracking Baln-ced weave is more economical and should be given first considerati-on.
One- direction weaves are used primarily on positive chain driven units where an open mesh is required for maximum drainage or air flow. It is also used for protective guards or curtains.
